Digital Photography Fundamentals
Are you a new digital camera owner? Do you want to learn how to take creative control of your camera and take better photographs? Designed for beginners, the class Digital Photography Fundamentals will give participants the knowledge necessary to move the camera out of automatic mode, choose the proper exposure and other camera settings for a variety of shooting situations and take great, creative photos.
Class topics include:
- Exposure Triangle - Shutter Speed, Aperture & ISO
- Understanding the Camera's Histogram
- The Camera Sensor and How It "Sees"
- Metering Modes
- Focusing Modes
- RAW vs JPEG Image Recording Modes
- Post-processing
CLASS DURATION: Approximately 90 minutes allowing time for questions and answers.
MATERIALS: For the class you will need a digital camera capable of being set to a fully manual mode, charged battery, memory card, the camera's owners/operation manual and note taking material.
FEE: Classes are $75 per 90 minutes instruction.
Landscape Photography Fundamentals
Building on skills learned in the beginner’s class Digital Photography Fundamentals, the intermediate class LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY FUNDAMENTALS will give participants the knowledge and skills necessary to make strikingly beautiful landscape photos. Often said to be one of the more challenging photographic disciplines, this course covers my thoughts and techniques for:
- Gear Selection - Tripods, Lenses, Creative Filters & more
- Exposure Settings - Master the Techniques for Setting the Perfect Exposure
- Focusing Techniques for Achieving Perfect Depth of Field Techniques for Creating Successful Compositions
- Developing Images in the Digital Darkroom
CLASS DURATION: Approximately 2 hours for the classroom presentation allowing time for questions and answers.
MATERIALS: For the class, you will need note taking material. Students are encouraged to bring their camera, a charged battery, memory card and lenses in the event there are questions about a particular camera function. Additionally, laptop computers can be beneficial if available.
CLASS OPTIONS: Students can elect to add one of several options to the classroom portion of this course.
- Option 1: Field Trip - Post-classroom session, we'll schedule a time to go on location, photograph a sunrise or sunset & work on the skills and techniques we covered in class.
- Option 2: Field Trip & Digital Darkroom - After the field trip, we will reconvene, sit down at the computer and develop our digital negatives using Adobe Lightroom to create beautiful works of art.
- Option 3: Field Trip, Digital Darkroom & Print Package - Choose up to 5 images taken either during the field trip or on your own & I will print and mat them for you as 8” x 12” prints on luster photo paper.
